Livestrong Ride Donation Forms

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Just got the note in my inbox that the Livestrong Ride donation forms are now available for download. Eventually they’ll be on the HQ page if you are registered for a race, for those that havent you’ll get a headquarters page to manage your site, fundraising, etc. when you signup.

Here’s the letter that I recieved:

LIVESTRONG Ride Series Donation Forms Available for Download

Your LIVESTRONG Ride donation forms are now available. Download and print a copy of the form here, or visit the Donate page at www.livestrongride.org.

In order to ensure that donations are properly processed, it is imperative that the Participant Name and Participant ID fields are correctly filled out on the form. We recommend that you fill those fields out yourself before giving the donation form to your donors.

In the coming weeks, you will be able to go to your personal fundraising webpage (HQ) to download a version of the donation form with these fields already filled out. We will notify you by email when this personalized version of the form is available.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact your coach at 877-RIDE-LSR (877-743-3577)

February Workout Plan

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Here’s the lineup im shooting for in February as far as working out for the Livestrong Ride Series. I need to get swimming into the rotation for the sprint triathalon at the end of April but im going to wait until after my Daytona trip in a couple weeks to start that up.

This lineup is concentrating mainly on building a good base and a high-rep weightlifting scheme. Since the last thing i want to do is become bulky and putting on a lot of muscle mass ive been reading up on how to get leaner. Most of what ive been reading says to use high rep/low weight workout to build lean muscle.

Mondays: Weekly soccer Game
Tuesdays: 1hr cycling base miles (stationary or real bike depending on weather)
Wednesday: 30mins running. 4×12 Bench Press,4×12 Incline Bench,4×12 Decline Bench,4×12 Butterfly, Arm Workout (see below), 4×12 tricep pulldown (45 seconds between reps)
Thursday: 1hr cycling base miles (stationary or real bike depending on weather)
Friday: 30mins running. 4×12 leg press, 4×12 Leg Extensions, 4×12 Leg Curl, 4×12 Calf Raise, 4×12 Military Press, 4×12 Row, 4×12 pull down
Saturday or Sunday: Long Bike Ride at base mile pace.

I learned this arm workout for a friend in college. Start with dumbells in both hands, use a small weight cause this is going to burn your arms out. Do a traditional curl with each arm with palms facing out. Turn hands inward 90 degrees clockwise, believe this is called a hammer curl position, and do a curl with each arm. Turn hands 90 degrees clockwise again so that palm are now facing backwards. Raise weight by doing a half moon towards your opposite hand across your body stopping with you reach 180 degrees from the start. Do this per arm. Finally do a reverse curl with the hand in the same position for each arm. This all counts as one, reverse order back and thats two. Keep going back and forth till you get to 10. It burns and hurts, but does your arms completely in one set of 10. Now do the set two more times :^).

Possible Livestrong Ride Jersey Levels Leaked

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I had previously posted this in the forum but decided to put it on the blog as well. The Livestrong Ride’s FAQ section says that jersey levels will be released later this January but later in the FAQ this answer appears for a question. For those that dont know about jersey levels, they are the fundraising level awards for the Ride For The Roses and Livestrong Rides. They are white, green, polka dot, and yellow, based upon the differing jersey types of the Tour De France.

36. It’s seven days before my event, and I’ve already raised $10,500, but I’m planning to raise more than $15,000. What jersey will I receive?

At the LIVESTRONG Village in your event city, you will receive the jersey color associated with the level you’ve achieved seven days prior to your event. In this situation, you would earn a polka dot jersey. If your donations total reflects a balance of $15,000 or more at least six weeks prior to the Ride for the Roses weekend, you will also be invited to attend that special celebration.

If this is valid then we know that $10000 is probably the Polka Dot level which would lead me to guess that $15000 is yellow, around $7500 for green, and $2500 or $5000 for white.

We should know soon enough.

It’s the Livestrong Ride in Austin on October 8th

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

My friend Ron and I have decided that we’re both 100% committed to riding the 100 mile Livestrong ride in Austin Texas on October the 8th. This also means that my fundraising efforts for the LAF can begin in earnest. As you may have noticed the donation links have now appeared around the site.

I hope that those that visit the site will follow these links to donate to the LAF and thereby reach out and help all those that are affected by Cancer and even those that may never be afflicted by Cancer through the LAF’s commitment to finding a cure.

I think its not a leap to assume that everyone has known or knows someone whom Cancer has affected. For me it was my Grandfather, my mother, and two of my aunts and it was in their honor that i rode this past year. I look forward to riding in Austin again this year. The 100 mile Ride For The Roses this past October was both the hardest and most rewarding effort I have undertaken. Im looking forward to getting back there and completing another 100 miles. Hopefully I can raise enough for the LAF this year to be invited back to the Ride For The Roses. That would be very cool but even better it would mean that i reached my goal of raising $15,000 this year for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It would be a gratifying feeling to have given back a little in return for the satisfaction i have gained by being involved.

There is a good chance that I will also try to ride the Philadelphia Livestrong Ride as well, and it will also be the 100 mile length. I look forward to getting the ball rolling for this year. I hope everyone will keep stopping by to track the efforts this year.

Your Donation, of Any Amount, Will Touch Every Person Supported By The Lance Armstrong Foundation
