Cool Race Tracking Website
The other day I was doing a google search on my name, yeah I guess thats kind of egocentric but i was curious. Anyway, I found that I was listed on a site called Athlinks.com as an endurance athlete. I was surprised because I had never heard of the site before and didnt know how my name had gotten into it so I checked it out. Turns out that the site goes out and pulls in race results from all over the web. Once its imported they create a record for each athlete in the race and if they find the same athlete in more than one race with the same data (city, state, age, etc) they will join the results.
The site had pulled in my results from a couple of 5K’s last year and I now had a record in the system. The site has a bunch of cool features. The coolest, I think, is the rivalry feature. If the site finds that you have competed against another racer three times they mark them as a rival and then you can click on their name and it gives you a race by race comparison. It will show you side by side with a time comparison between the two.
Also it will track your place by gender, age group, and overall and your finishing time. This gives you a quick way of determining your PR (Personal Record) by looking at your list of races. I found that a lot of my races were not in the system so I submitted them to be imported. In the top left there is a link asking “Did we miss a race?”. If you click that it asks you five questions about the race and you submit the answers. I submitted about 5 total races and each one was imported within a day or two of submission, so they must have a pretty good automated script running. I cant say for sure it will get your races that fast but its a good bet.
They dont track non races such as the Livestrong Challenge cycling portion but if you’re like me then you are probably doing other races as training to build up your endurance or are already doing them prior to your 2007 Livestrong Challenge training. It should be noted that the Livestrong Challenge running portions are tracked because they are timed events.
