Try out a Spinning Class
Ive been riding the stationary bike for the past few months getting in some “foundation” miles for my Livestrong Challenge training. I have looked to find the benefits of stationary cycling to see if my theory that at least being on the bike helps and found that Spinning classes are more highly recommended. Of course, getting on the stationary bike is better than not being in any kind of saddle at all.
Spinning classes are more highly recommended because the pace is much faster than on a stationary bike. This is due to having an instructor to push you further in your training. Also the bikes used in spinning classes more closely resemble actual road/mountain bikes than a stationary bike does which gets you used to positioning and improving technique as you pedal. Finally outdoors is a varied environment and the variation found in the spinning classes is a closer facsimile of what you would experience outdoors.
So Ill be trying one of these spinning classes to see how that all works and maybe you should as well. If nothing else it is a new way of spending time in the gym and the more variation you can get into the routine the easier it is to stay motivated and not be bored indoors.
